How to access the legislative process and advocate for health justice
This workshop will focus on two aspects of legislative advocacy: (1) Talking with legislators about health care needs and (2) Giving testimony and advocating for progressive health care bills.
Penelope Bennett, an instructor at the University of Colorado and an Instructor/Advisor at the Colorado School of Public Health, will engage volunteers in a role-playing exercise demonstrating best strategies for talking to legislators about health care.
Jim Potter, a retired attorney and Foundation Strategy Team member, will lead an exercise in how to testify before legislative committees to effectively advocate for progressive bills.
